Three members of the same family set out to visit all 92 league grounds in 92 hours – in a Spaceship!
The Caplins took on the epic 2,400 mile journey to raise money for Chai Cancer Care and the North London Hospice, in memory of their mum and wife, Roz Caplin, on the 10th anniversary of her passing.
They embarked on the trip in a 4-berth Luxury motorhome provided by Spaceships UK for this challenge. The motorhome has a host of features including underfloor heating, a separate shower and toilet plus a fitted kitchen with oven, hob and fridge/freezer.
Ahead of their unique Spaceships road trip, Bob Caplin said. “The motorhome is finished to a high specification, but I don’t know how much sleep we’ll get. It will give us the flexibility to prepare some food and enable the non-drivers at that time to rest while we’re on the move,” he added.
The journey began in North London with Watford the first ground, before driving down to Brighton and along the south coast to Plymouth. From there, the team turned north-east back to Reading, before blasting back west into Wales via Bristol.
They crossed the border back into The Midlands, before heading north-west. At Carlisle they turned east to Newcastle, then down through Yorkshire. East again across the Fens to Norwich, before the last leg back to London through Essex.
Josh Caplin told us why they were “Doing the 92”. “February will mark 10 years since our Mum passed away. To honour her memory, myself, my Dad, Bob and my brother-in-law Stephen are embarking on the #92in92 challenge.
“We are raising funds for Chai Cancer Care and the North London Hospice, both of which were so supportive during Mum’s illness,” he said.

They began the last morning heading towards Ipswich Town, driving through Essex and Kent before heading back into London to the last 6 grounds. The time was tight, and as good as the motorhome had been over the first 2,370 miles, the last 30 through London would to be tough going. The team contacted us and we arranged to dock with Moonraker as they orbited London! Roland from the Spaceships Crew took off to meet them in a smaller Delta campervan better at navigating through the busy London traffic. They met up and transferred Spaceships.
The Spaceships Campervan flew to the last few grounds before touching down at the final ground, the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium - with just 8 minutes to spare!
A delighted Josh Caplin was thrilled to have made it and was delighted with their Spaceships - and Ground Control! "It was certainly a crazy day! The support we got from your team was first class. We wouldn’t have made it without the replacement Delta campervan. On top of that, we've raised over £18,000 for two amazing organisations," he said. Dad Bob agreed, saying: "The motorhome was absolutely fantastic and we all said that our Spaceship was the 4th member of the team!"
