At Spaceships, we've got the largest fleet of campervans and motorhomes available for hire in the UK and Ireland. Here we road test a Spaceships campervan and motorhome.
Fleet Manager, Gabor Magna and Operations Manager, Jeremy Willems took our Luxury Motorhome and Voyager Campervan on a road test from London to Devon. This provided a combination of motorway driving and winding, country lanes.
Gabor and his wife drove the Adria Sun Living 70 SC Luxury Motorhome. It has an economical 2.3 litre diesel engine with automatic gearbox and a 5 Star Euro NCAP safety rating.
It's packed with features including 2 double beds, shower room & toilet, kitchen space with oven, large fridge/freezer and TV & DVD player. There's even underfloor heating and a garage area under the floor of the vehicle to store bikes and all your gear. Everything is designed and built to a high standard giving the living space a luxury feel.
The motorhome has a 240v mains hook up that you simply plug in to your campsite pitch. There is also a leisure battery that will run the lights, fridge, heating and hot water if you are off grid for a while. This is re-charged each time you drive the vehicle. The oven is powered by an LPG bottle which can be topped up at large fuel stations. You can power the kettle and phone charger from the leisure battery 12v sockets.
Gabor was impressed with the performance of the luxury motorhome. "It's comfortable and easy to drive, even on narrower roads," he said. "When reversing, we would recommend having someone to help you manoeuvre," he added.
They took the motorhome into the town of Woolacombe and had no problem finding parking. "We swam in the sea before eating fish and chips back in the Motorhome. It's the perfect way to visit the coast," Gabor said.
The return trip from London to the camp site in Devon was about 400 miles, but the luxury Motorhome used just over half a tank of fuel averaging over 30mpg.

Jeremy made the same trip in the Voyager, our ultimate 4-berth campervan. The Voyager is custom-fitted by our expert team at Spaceships UK and based on the trusty Ford Transit. It includes 2 double beds, a large fridge, water tank and has an ISOFIX child seat fitting. It has ample storage space with two portable gas cookers and a dining table and chairs that can be used either inside or outside the campervan. The awning enables you to extend the living area of the Voyager.
"The Voyager is incredibly well-designed," said Jeremy. "I didn't use the mains hook up on this occasion - the leisure battery runs the fridge and is easy to re-charge on a short drive. I also used an inverter, supplied by Spaceships as an optional extra. This converts the 12v power supply to 240v, allowing me to charge a laptop or camera."
The Voyager also has a 5 Star ENCAP safety rating and is powered by a smooth 2.2 litre diesel engine with a manual gearbox. Jeremy averaged an impressive 42mpg on his trip from London to Devon.

Jeremy told is more about the road test. "It's an opportunity for us to find out how everything works," he said. "Our Spaceships are tried and tested and are ideal for first-time campers and families. They're easy to drive so you can collect after work and enjoy either a long road trip to Europe or just a weekend away somewhere," he added.
Each time the Spaceships return to depot, they undergo a rigorous 56-point vehicle check that includes tyres, battery, oil levels, lights and even the electric windows. Part of the inspection also checks the travel kit and cookers. When you pick up your Spaceships Campervan or Motorhome, you're ready for Take-Off!
Jeremy again: "As well as a manual in each vehicle, our team are on hand to help and advise you during your trip if you need it. There are also videos and FAQs on our website to make hiring a campervan or motorhome really easy. The hardest part is deciding where you want to go!" he joked.
